Seattle Professional Makeup Tips: “Everyone has the potential to look beautiful.” Kevin Aucoin

BRUSHES:

The right tools can make all the difference in make-up application. Throw away any sponge applicators that come with the make-up products, and invest in a nice set of brushes. Most of your brushes will be made of natural hair (sable, pony, squirrel, goat, etc.), and work best for your powder products. Synthetic brushes (nylon, taklon, etc.), are great for applying your cream or liquid products.

Taking care of your brushes is easy. Find a gentle cleanser or shampoo (I use Purity from Philosophy), use warm water, rinse thoroughly, and lay flat to dry. If you take good care of your brushes, they will last you a lifetime.

FACE:

If you have dry skin like I do, add a highlighter to your foundation. I like HollywoodGlo by Benefit. Mix in just a touch for a radiant glow. Think JLO!!.

EYES:

Mascara is my number one beauty must-have. When applying mascara, don’t forget to coat the tops of your top lashes, especially if you have lighter hair. Always put mascara on your bottom lashes as well, even if you don’t think you have any, you’ll be surprised at what a difference this can make.

LIPS:

If you’re not quite ready to flaunt that bright lipstick, try sheering it out by applying a lip balm first. Also, add a touch of gloss or shimmer to the center of lips to make your pucker appear poutier!

BEAUTY MUST-HAVES:

  • SPF 40+
  • Dior Show Mascara by Christian Dior
  • Orgasm blush by NARS (this is always fun to ask for in the store)
  • Blitz & Glitz fluidline gel liner by M.A.C.
  • Nymphette Lipglass by M.A.C. (another fun one)
  • HollywoodGlo by Benefit
